Cruise to Potter Cove at the north end of Prudence Island
From your Fleet Captain as of 6-18-2012
Dear ILYC Cruise Participants:
With the July 4th holiday falling on a Wednesday, we're foregoing our customary Bristol cruise, instead heading to Potter Cove at the north end of Prudence Island - a 10 nm run from Newport.
Plan to get an early start Tuesday afternoon to arrive in the late afternoon. You'll have a favoring current after 2:00 pm. Although there are plenty of moorings, the owners are likely to show up that night; so plan to anchor. Expect lots of boats, but there is plenty of room. The holding ground is good. Tow a tender or arrange to have a ride to the beach at the end of Gull Point, where we will congregate for a BYO picnic. The first to arrive should stake out prime beach space for us. If you can stay awake after libation intake until after 9:00 pm, you'll enjoy double featured fireworks displays - Bristol's and Portsmouth's over Escobar's Farm. Newport's at Fort Adams is Wednesday night.
The extended forecast calls for humid weather in the 80s. Bring bathing suits.
